Charl is an independent software product development executive. He was the senior executive in charge of product development at Korbitec, a 300+ strong South African software development house, from 2000-2008. Previously he was the Financial Director of a Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) listed company. See his LinkedIn profile here.
He is authoring a book called Managing Agile: The Thinking Manager’s Practical Response to the Agile Manifesto, which aims to recalibrate the expectations of agilists and traditional managers in order to get things done well, quickly and inexpensively. In addition he mentors Product Owners in their key (and tricky) role of balancing the product interests of customers, users, stakeholders, and developers.
He’s had extensive experience in productising and commercialising desktop and web-based applications.
Charl grew up in Zimbabwe, and studied accounting and information systems at the University of Cape Town. He currently lives in Cape Town, close to Cape Point, almost as south as you can get in Africa.
